How to read it
The maker measures it unladen, at the lowest point it names (often a differential or a skid plate), so it moves with the trim, suspension and tires. On the 2026 Ford Bronco, it runs from 8.3 in (Base 2-door 2.3L 10-speed auto) to 13.1 in (Raptor 4-door 3.0L 10-speed auto). Bigger tires raise it by half their extra height; a suspension lift raises it under an independent front end, not under a solid axle’s differential.

How this list is made
What is compared: the maker’s own ground clearance figure, measured where the maker measures it.
One row per model: its newest generation, the newest model year we have that publishes the number (at most two years older than its newest), and the configuration with the highest figure, factory packages included and named. Fleet-only configurations (police and special-service trucks) are left out. When two trims tie, the four-wheel-drive one stands for both. Numbers are ranked as printed, so equal-looking numbers tie.
Scope: among the 32 SUVs in our data with a published figure. It isn’t every SUV on sale: it is every one we have documents for. We track 4 more without the number in the documents we have: GMC Yukon, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Mitsubishi Pajero. Fewer than 5 with the number and there is no list.
