Privacy policy
This first public release does not require an account and does not store personal vehicle builds.
Information collected
Our hosting and analytics providers may process standard technical data such as IP address, device type, referring page, viewed URLs and approximate location. This information is used to operate, secure and improve the site.
Analytics
We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, with its requests going through our own domain. We use no advertising trackers.
Until you choose, and if you choose “No thanks”, it runs in cookieless mode: it sets no cookies and keeps no identifier on your device, so we only count page visits and measure how fast pages load. If you say “No thanks”, your browser remembers that answer and nothing else.
If you choose “Allow”, PostHog may set a cookie and use local storage to recognise your browser across visits, and we record how the calculators and the rig builder are used. It may also record sessions (clicks, scrolls and page changes, with anything you type masked) to show us where the site is hard to use.
Your choice is kept in your browser. You can change it any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
Messages
If you email us, we receive the address and information you include. Do not send sensitive personal information. We retain correspondence only as needed to respond, document a correction or meet legal obligations.
ChatGPT app
The 4wd.ai app in ChatGPT compares tire sizes. When ChatGPT calls it, we receive only the tool’s arguments: the two tire sizes and, if you name it, the vehicle (make, model, year, trim). We don’t receive your conversation, and we don’t store what you typed: the app works the answer out and keeps nothing.
Analytics. To count how the app is used, we record each call in PostHog (EU): the tire sizes in their standard form, the vehicle model from our own catalog when we have it, and the hints ChatGPT sends with a call (language, approximate location as country, region and city, and device type). ChatGPT’s user and conversation ids are kept only as salted one-way hashes, and no IP address is stored. The widget reports that it was shown and which of our links was opened, without any id.
Visiting the site from the app. Links in the app go through 4wd.ai/q, which counts the visit: the app, the link and the page, without your IP address or browser and without setting a cookie.
