How we research 4WD fitment
Modified-vehicle fitment rarely has one universal answer. Our methodology keeps specifications, product claims, observed builds and inference visibly separate.
The evidence ladder
- Manufacturer documentation: factory tire sizes, suspension packages, installation instructions and system limitations.
- Product documentation: fitment claims and installation requirements from suspension, wheel and component manufacturers.
- Observed builds: owner or shop configurations with enough detail to compare tire, wheel, lift and reported outcome.
- Inference: a conclusion derived from nearby evidence. Inference is described as conditional, never presented as a measured fact.
Why answers are conditional
Two tires with the same sidewall code can have different measured diameters and section widths. Wheel width changes the mounted shape. Offset moves the tire relative to the upper control arm and body. Alignment, vehicle load, added bumpers and suspension travel change the remaining clearance.
What “fits” means
We distinguish ordinary street driving, full steering lock, reverse steering, suspension compression and articulated off-road use. A build can pass one condition and fail another. A published matrix is a planning guide, not an installation certificate.
Publication policy
Every guide identifies its generation and trim assumptions, shows its reviewed sources and carries a real review date. We do not publish invented confidence scores, fabricated builds or unsupported millimeter-level clearance estimates.
